LAHORE: Mirza Shahid Saleem Baig, the inspector-general (IG) of prisons forPunjab has revealed that Nawaz Sharif is cleaning his own room in Jail aspart of rigorous punishment awarded to him.

He on Wednesday said that the hard labour being taken from former primeminister Nawaz Sharif in jail is limited to cleaning his room.

Speaking with media persons at a ceremony, Baig said that Nawaz is ahigh-profile prisoner who cannot venture out of his barracks.

Responding to a question about Nawaz’s rigorous punishment, the IG prisonssaid the hard labour being taken from the former premier is as per jailmanual rules.

An accountability court on December 24 had sentenced Nawaz to seven yearsin prison in Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption reference, while acquittinghim in the Flagship Investment reference. He was arrested the from thecourtroom shortly afterwards.
