ISLAMABAD – Another rain spell likely to start from Friday evening or nightwill produce good rain at different parts of Upper Punjab, KhyberPakhtunkhwa and Islamabad, which would create positive impact onagriculture side and help subside the prevailing foggy conditions in plainareas of Punjab, Upper Sindh and Peshawer.Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Chief Meteorologist Dr MuhammadHanif said this while talking to APP.This rain spell, starting from Friday and lasting until Sunday, willincrease the intensity of persisting cold wave in the country and furtherdecrease the temperatures up to two to three degree Celsius.Dr Hanif said the rain spell would help create good impact on the wheatcrop and boost the orange production in the country. It will also help endfrost that has damaged most of the vegetable and fruit crops.The upcoming rain spell will cover 80 percent area of Punjab, Dr Hanifsaid.He said this rain spell would also help reduce the foggy conditions, whichare creating hazards for the travelers especially on motorways and causingaccidents.Snowfall is also likely at Murree, Naran, Kaghan and other hilly areasduring the weekend which will remain a source of attraction for thetourists, he said.According to the PMD report, rain with snowfall over the hills occurred atscattered places in Malakand, Hazara, Rawalpindi divisions, Islamabad andKashmir while at isolated places in Sahiwal, Lahore, Bahawalpur divisionsand Gilgit-Baltistan during the last 24 hours.Foggy conditions prevailed in plains of Punjab and upper Sindh which causedproblems for the travelers.The rainfall recorded during the last 24 hours was Punjab: Murree 13 mm,Islamabad (Zeropoint, Saidpur 07, Golra 06, Airport 05, Bokra 04),Rawalpindi (Chaklala, Shamsabad 05), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Balakot 13, Pattan09, Kakul 07, Dir, Kalam, Malamjabba 06, Parachinar 03, Chitral, Drosh,Saidu Sharif, Mirkhani 01, Kashmir: Rawalakot 11, Muzaffarabad 10 andGilgit Baltistan: Bagrote 01mm.The snowfall recorded during the period was Murree 05 inches, KalamMalamjabba 03, Hunza, Gupis 01, Bagrote 0.5 and traces in Skardu andAstore.The lowest minimum temperatures recorded during the last 24 hours wereSkardu -08°C, Gupis -07°C, Astore, Bagrote, Kalam -04°C, Malamjabba, Kalat-03°C, Parachinar, Murree, Rawalakot, Quetta and Dir -02°C.
