KABUL – US Military has claimed killing 1,000 Taliban militants along with19 Commanders in successful operations across Afghanistan.
Over one thousand militants were killed during the joint operations andairstrikes conducted by the Afghan and U.S. forces in various parts ofAfghanistan in the past two months.
The latest report and figures released by the U.S. military indicates asharp rise in the joint ground operations and airstrikes against theTaliban militants during the recent months.
According to the report, the U.S. forces and the Afghan National Defenseand Security Forces have carried out around 550 airstrikes against theTaliban targets with the span of two months.
Col. Dave Butler, a spokesman for the U.S. military in Afghanistan has saidthat the airstrikes were carried out with an aim to force the Talibanmilitants to participate in peace talks.
He has said that the United States and the NATO-led Resolute Supportnations are keen to stabilize Afghanistan to the point where the terroristsgroups are not allowed to have safe havens and carry out attacks across theworld.
At least 1089 militants including 19 of their commander have been killedover the span of less than two months, the report by the U.S. militarystated.
