Pakistan foreign reserves witness sudden surge

ISLAMABAD – The total liquid foreign reserves held by the country stood at$14.8 billion on 25th January 2019.

According to a statement issued by the State Bank of Pakistan, foreignreserves held by the SBP stood at $8.1 billion while net foreign reservesheld by commercial banks were recorded at $6.6 billion.

During the week ending January 25, SBP received inflows of $1 billion eachfrom Saudi Arabia and UAE as placement of funds.

After taking into account outflows relating to external debt and otherofficial payments, SBP reserves increased by $1.5 billion during the week.
