Pakistan Navy Chief gives key instructions over CPEC Maritime security in Indian Ocean

ISLAMABAD – Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi hasexpressed confidence over operational preparedness of Pakistan Navy to copewith all security challenges.

He was chairing a meeting of Command and Staff Conference of Pakistan Navy,which concluded at Ormara on Thursday.

The Naval Chief also reiterated that Pakistan Navy will continue to play asignificant role in sustenance of peace and stability in the Indian Oceanregion in the midst of complex, challenging and evolving contemporarysecurity environment.

Matters related to operational preparedness, developmental plans ofPakistan Navy, prevailing security situation and training & welfare oftroops were reviewed during the conference.

Detailed briefing on various ongoing and future projects and plans ofPakistan Navy as well as operational activities and security aspects atGwadar Port particularly with respect to Maritime Components of CPECProject were also given to Chief of the Naval Staff.

The Naval Chief urged the field commanders to remain at the highest stateof preparedness and maintain a constant vigil in their area ofresponsibility.

Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi directed field commanders to make concertedefforts for successful conduct of Multinational Maritime Exercise AMAN-19which is testimony of confidence in Pakistan by regional and extra regionalcountries.

It is to be noted that Command & Staff Conference is the apex decisionmaking body of Pakistan Navy in which all Chiefs of Staff, Principal StaffOfficers and Field Commanders undertake strategic review of Pakistan Navy’sPolicies and Plans.
