Federal cabinet meeting underway with 20 points agenda

*ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan is presiding over a meeting of thefederal cabinet to discuss the 20-point agenda on Thursday.*

The cabinet session started at 11:30am today to discuss the agendaincluding a briefing on softening of Pakistan’s visa regime.

The meeting will discuss Hajj policy for 2019 will be discussed, also onthe 20-point agenda is the approval of the appointment of the heads ofseveral institutions. It will also be discussing the* anti-drugpolicy* and *Pakistanvisa policy.*

The cabinet will approve additional technical grant for the *Prime Ministers Youth Training Scheme* and an agreement for the promotion of sportsbetween Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

The national anti-narcotics policy 2018, and proposed *Hajj Policy* will bepresented before the cabinet apart of a briefing on inactive stateinstitutions. The new* Hajj Policy* is expected to be announced after itsapproval by the cabinet.

The cabinet will also decide on transfer of *Karachi InfrastructureDevelopment Company* from Communications Ministry to the *Cabinet Division*.

Federal Cabinet will also grant approval to various agreements andmemorandum of understanding (MoUs) with different countries.

Moreover, the cabinet will approve the rules for *appointment of DeputyGovernor State Bank of Pakistan Jameel Ahmed* and decide approval of theappointment of Chairman Port Qasim Authority and managing directors ofPak-Libya Holding Company and the National Investment Trust in today’smeeting.

Earlier, the federal government announced a new policy of grantingvisa-on-arrival facilities to 50 countries, and an additional provision ofe-visas to citizens of 175 countries. Previously, visa-on-arrivalprivileges were extended to only 24 countries.
