ISLAMABAD – The veteran all-rounder, Shoaib Malik is leading Pakistan teamin the fourth ODI of the series in absence of their skipper in all threeformats of the game, Sarfraz Ahmed who has been banned by the ICC for hisracial remarks.
Shoaib Malik won the toss while captaining Pakistan and elected to bowlfirst in a pink ODI.
Mohammad Rizwan has been brought in to replace the suspended Sarfraz Ahmed.On the other hand, Hasan Ali has been left out, while Usman Shinwari cameback in the playing XI.
Sarfraz Ahmed has been suspended for four matches for the breach of ICC’sAnti-Racism Code for Participants for his comments about South Africanall-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo during the second ODI of the series.
“Engaging in any conduct (whether through the use of language, gestures orotherwise) which is likely to offend, insult, humiliate, intimidate,threaten, disparage or vilify any reasonable person in the position of aPlayer, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee, Umpire SupportPersonnel or any other person (including a spectator) on the basis of theirrace, religion, culture, colour, descent, national or ethnic origin.” thecode says.
The Pakistan team captain was summoned by the match referee RanjanMadhugalle, where he accepted his mistake, expressed embarrassment andapologized for his words. The report was then sent to the ICC by the matchreferee.
