ISLAMABAD – Pakistani skipper Sarfraz Ahmed wife Khushbakht Sarfraz hasstepped in to save husband from the onslaught over the racial remarks.
Days after Pakistani skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed drew fire for making racialslurs against a South African cricketer on the field, the former’s wife,Khushbakht Sarfaraz, has stepped up to share the player’s “real side”.
“This is Nelson Mendela Square where Abdullah and his *abba* [father]really had a great time racing with local kids. This is his real side. Sarfaraz was caught on stump mics passing an offensive taunt to SouthAfrican cricket stalwart Andile Phehlukwayo during the second ODI onTuesday.
“Abey kaale, teri ammi aaj kahaan baitheen hain? Kya parwa ke aaye haiaaj?” which translates to, “Hey black guy, where’s your mother sittingtoday? What [prayer] have you got her to say for you today?” he was heardas saying.
Owing to his disrespectful statement, it was speculated that Sarfaraz mighthave to face sanctions of up to five matches by the International CricketCouncil (ICC).
However, skipper on Friday apologised to Andile for his comment.
