Pakistan Military has participated in 44 UN peacekeeping Missions across the World

RAWALPINDI – President of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), MaríaFernanda Espinosavisited Center for international Peace and Stability( CIPS) on Monday.While interacting with students and faculty members, the President UNGeneral Assembly paid rich tribute to sacrifices of Pakistani peacekeepersfor global peace and security and saving civilian lives under UN umbrella,said a press release issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).The CIPS was established in 2013 to provide peacekeeping training todomestic and international peacekeepers and was inaugurated by UN SecretaryGeneral Ban Ki-Moon.Pursuing a long history with UN Peacekeeping since 1960s, Pakistan has beenwholeheartedly supporting UN Peacekeeping in more than 44 missions.

The delegation paid tribute to 156 Pakistani peacekeepers, who havesacrificed their lives for the noble cause of humanity and restoring peaceand stability in different regions.Earlier on arrival at CIPS, Rector National University of Sciences andTechnology(NUST) Lieutenant General (Retired) Naweed Zaman welcomed the visitingdignitary.

Dr Maleeha Lodhi, Pakistan’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to theUnited Nations was also present during the visit.
