Pakistan and United States inch closer further

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and the United States Sunday agreed to deepen thebilateral economic ties particularly in the context of trade and investmentcooperation, in view of the historical linkages between the two countries.

In a meeting with Senior US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham who called onhim here, the prime minister reiterated his government’s commitment tocontinue working with the US and other regional stakeholders to find apolitical settlement in Afghanistan, a PM Office statement said.Senator Graham is visiting Pakistan to discuss bilateral ties and reviewthe regional security situation.Sentor Graham conveyed his appreciation of Pakistan’s positive role in theongoing efforts to find a political settlement in Afghanistan.He praised the prime minister’s vision to have advocated for a politicalsolution to the Afghan conflict.Senator Graham lauded the vision of the prime minister to improve theeconomy, eliminate corruption and create jobs for the people of Pakistan.The prime minister’s efforts to normalize relations with neighbouringcountries were note worthy, he noted.The prime minister underscored the need for normalising relations with allneighbouring countries to unleash the potential of regional cooperation.He said that his economic team was constantly striving to evolve businessfriendly policies for potential investors which could be benefited by theUS companies.
