Pakistan become one of the leading state of the World to export Fighter Jets

ISLAMABAD – Nigeria is in the process of acquiring JF-17 Thunder fromPakistan to enhance its defense capabilities.

Nigeria’s Defense Advisor Brigadier General, Nasiru Usman Mukhtar, revealedthis development while addressing a reception at the Nigerian Embassy. Theevent was held to commemorate the Nigerian Armed Force Day.

He said that the Nigerian Armed Forces have collaborated with many friendlycountries to build a peaceful and prosperous nation while contributing to abetter world. He added that the Pakistan Armed Forces have remained a keyally in this regard.

The ambassadors, high commissioners, senior officers of the Pakistan ArmedForces, defense advisors, and attaches of several countries and journalistsalso attended the event.

Vice Admiral Ather Mukhtar, who was the guest of honor, said that Pakistanand Nigeria enjoy cordial relations. He said that the Nigerian forces haverecently participated in a joint exercise with Pakistan. They would againparticipate in the next joint training scheduled in 2019.Defense Cooperation

Mukhtar said that these joint exercises offer an opportunity to learn fromeach other’s experience. He said that the defense cooperation between thetwo countries has been going on since the 1960s.

Moreover, the two countries have cooperated in the areas of training,logistics, acquisition of hardware, and on the platforms of NN, NA, andNigerian Armed Forces.

Pakistan has also collaborated with Nigeria regarding military hardware tofacilitate the counter-terrorism operations against Boko Haram insurgents.

Nigerian advisor Nasiru Usman Mukthar said that the Nigeria Armed ForcesDay is observed to acknowledge and honor the fallen compatriots and heroesof the nation.
