*ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to launch acrackdown against tax defaulters as data of 50,000 bank accounts beingoperated by the Pakistanis across the world, has been traced out.*
According to the well-informed sources, the FBR has initiated first phaseof crackdown against the tax defaulters and hoped that more details in thisregard to be received in upcoming days.
“The accounts traced so far were being operated in Spain, Italy, France,Germany and other countries and bulk of them were held by the people ofKarachi, Lahore and Islamabad,” the sources said.
The sources within FBR further added that, according to law, theinformation of the account holders will be kept confidential.
The FBR has traced down as many as 867 properties of Pakistani nationals inDubai worth rupees 38 bn.
“As many as 316 people legalized their properties through amnesty scheme bypaying tax of rupees 1.2 bn,” the sources said.
