ISLAMABAD – Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan International AirlinesArshad Malik has said a strategic business plan will be presented in Marchfor the complete revival of the national flag carrier as per the vision ofPrime Minister Imran Khan.
He was addressing a news conference in Islamabad with Minister forPrivatisation Mian Muhammad Soomro and Special Assistant to the PrimeMinister Iftikhar Durrani, today.
He said the PIA is a national asset but regretably the organizationsuffered losses due to flawed policies in the past.
Arshad Malik said Pakistan International Airline has the best professionalsand pilots and as a result of their cooperation, we in a short span of timehave been able to improve service delivery.
He said under the short term plan, it is our effort to carry out the Hajjoperation in the best possible manner.
He was confident that the airline will see improvement with each passingday.
The Chief Executive Officer said we also evolved a strategy to stopbleeding and cut costs of the airline.
He said in the first phase, we have closed down seven loss making routeswhich were causing loss of five hundred million rupees monthly.
He said we have introduced some profit making routes and more will beintroduced by 15th of next month.
Arshad Malik said we have removed two hundred ghost employees and actionhas also been taken against the fake degree holders as per the directionsof the Supreme Court.
