Vladimir Putin to leave for key middle east tour, will sell S400 missile defence system to leading Islamic state

DOHA – Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to visit Qatar “soon”,according to the Russian ambassador inDoha.In an interview with Russia Today, Nour Mohamed Kholov said “highcoordination is underway between the two countries to prepare for thevisit”.He said the visit will mainly tackle bilateral relations, recentdevelopments of the Syrian crisis and the possibilityto provide Qatar with the S-400 missile defense system.Moscow’s position on the Gulf crisis will also be addressed during thevisit as well as coordination between thetwo countries in the international gas markets and cooperation inorganizing the FIFA World Cup, scheduled to be heldin Qatar in 2022, the envoy said.In July, the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, visited Moscowand discussed with Putin regional issues, including the Gulf crisis as wellas hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2022.Since the summer of 2017, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrainand Egypt have cut ties with Qatarand imposed “punitive measures” that Doha calls a “blockade”.The Saudi-led axis accuses Qatar of supporting terrorism, which Doha denies.
