Pakistan National Security Committee meeting takes key decisions

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan Thursday authorized the Armed Forcesof Pakistan to respond decisively and comprehensively to any aggression ormisadventure by India.

He was chairing a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) heldhere at the PM Office during which the participants discussed geo-strategicand national security environment and the situation arising out after thePulwama incident.

The forum noted that the State of Pakistan was not involved in any way,means or form, in the said incident. The incident was conceived, plannedand executed indigenously, a press release issued by the PM Office heresaid.

In this regard, Pakistan has sincerely offered investigation of theincident aswell as the offer of dialogue on the issue of terrorism among otherdisputed issues.

“We expect India to positively respond to the offers”.

Based on the investigation or any tangible evidence provided, the State ofPakistan shall take action against anyone found using our soil. However,India also needed deepintrospection to realize that why people of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK )had lost fear of death.

The violence by Indian forces in the Occupied Kashmir was highlycounterproductive.

The global community needs to play its part in resolving the long pendingKashmir issuein accordance with the UN Resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiris.

The Prime Minister said that this was a new Pakistan and they weredetermined to demonstrate to their people that the State was capable ofprotecting them and believed that ‘monopoly of violence’ stayed with State.

“This will not come with commitment alone. We recognize that terrorism andextremismare the top issues in the region and the whole region including Pakistanhave suffered.

Pakistan alone has endured over 70,000 casualties in the process besidesheavy loss to national exchequer.

“That is why, the National Action Plan conceived and issued in 2014,outlined concretesequenced measures with consensus of all political parties and institutionsof Pakistan.

“Having addressed direct threat to State of Pakistan, we need to move toensure thatmilitancy and extremism are routed from the society and the State neverbecomes hostage to extremists.”

In this regard, the Prime Minister directed both the Interior Ministry andthe securityinstitutions to immediately accelerate actions on ground.

“At the same time, the Prime Minister authorized Armed Forces of Pakistanto responddecisively and comprehensively to any aggression or misadventure by India.”
