National Security Committee meeting: PM Khan gives free hand to Armed Forces to retaliate to Indian misadventures

ISLAMABAD – National Security Committee has said in unequivocal terms thatthe state of Pakistan is not involved in any way, means or form in Pulwamaincident and it was conceived, planned and executed indigenously.

The forum, which met in Islamabad today with Prime Minister Imran Khan inthe chair, said Pakistan has sincerely offered investigation of theincident and dialogue on the issue of terrorism among other disputed issueswith India.

It said we expect India to positively respond to these offers. Thecommittee said based on the investigation or any tangible evidenceprovided, State of Pakistan shall take action against anyone found usingour soil.

However, India also needs deep introspection to realize that why people ofOccupied Kashmir have lost fear of death. The violence by Indian forces inOccupied Kashmir is highly counterproductive, it added.

The Committee urged the global community to play its part in resolving thelong pending Kashmir issue in accordance with UN resolutions andaspirations of the Kashmiris.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that this is a newPakistan and we are determined to demonstrate to our people that the Stateis capable of protecting them and believes that monopoly of violence stayswith State.

Expressing resolve to defend the motherland, he authorized Armed Forces ofPakistan to respond decisively and comprehensively to any aggression ormisadventure by India.

Regarding Pakisan’s resolve against terrorism, he said we recognize thatterrorism and extremism are the top issues in the region and the wholeregion including Pakistan have suffered.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan alone has endured over 70,000 casualtiesin the process besides heavy loss to national exchequer. He said that iswhy the National Action Plan conceived and issued in 2014, outlinedconcrete sequenced measures with consensus of all political parties andinstitutions of Pakistan.

Having addressed direct threat to State of Pakistan, he said we need tomove to ensure that militancy and extremism are routed from the society andthe State never becomes hostage to extremists. In this regard, PrimeMinister directed both the interior ministry and the security institutionsto immediately accelerate actions on ground.
