ISLAMABAD – Two-time Pakistani Academy Award winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoyhas been nominated for National Association for Multi-Ethnicity inCommunications [NAMIC] Vision Awards 2019 for her collaborative HBO Sportsdocumentary ‘Student Athlete’*.*
These awards acknowledge original content that best reflects the depth andbreadth of the lives, spirit and contributions of people of colour.
*Student Athlete* has been created in association with LeBron James,Maverick Carter and Jamal Henderson at SpringHill Entertainment and SteveStoute at United Masters while it has been co-directed by Sharmeen (HBO’sOscar winners Saving Face and A Girl in the River: The Price ofForgiveness) and Trish Dalton (Bordering on Treason).
*Student Athlete* highlights the complex rules of amateur athletics inAmerica and showing how they influence uncompensated athletes and theirfamilies. It reveals the deceitful world of high-revenue college sports bynarrating the stories of four young men at different stages in their sportscareers.
Sharmeen is nominated along with other notable nominees including DwayneThe Rock Johnson, Mishel Prada, Sesame Street and Michelle Obama to name afew.
