India responds over Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan TV address over Pulwama attack

NEW DELHI: Hours after Prime Minister Imran Khan offered to investigate therecent attack in occupied Kashmir, the Indian government on Tuesdaydemanded that Pakistan take “credible and visible action” over the suicideattack.

Tensions between the neighbours have soared since last Thursday’s attack inwhich at least 40 Indian paramilitaries were killed.

The prime minister, in a nationally televised address, demanded India togive “actionable evidence” and that Pakistan would retaliate if attacked.

Imran “has neither chosen to condemn this heinous act nor condoled with thebereaved families,” said the statement issued by the Indianlinkof External Affairs.

“The prime minister of Pakistan has offered to investigate the matter ifIndia provides proof. This is a lame excuse.”

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi faces increasing pressure to taketough action over the attacks, which were reportedly claimed byJaish-e-Mohammed. – APP/AFP
