SEINAGAR – Jaish-e-Mohammed operative Abdul Rashid Ghazi alias Kamran, whois said to be the mastermind of the Pulwama suicide bombing, is believed tohave been killed in an ongoing encounter between militants and securityforces in Pinglan area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, Zee Newshas reported.
At least two militants had been trapped by security forces in a house. Asper sources, security forces have blasted the house in which the militantswere holed up.
Security forces believe that all militants who were trapped in the househave been killed. However, their bodies are yet to be recovered.
Four soldiers, including a Major, have also been martyred in the ongoingencounter between militants and security forces in Pulwama, say sources. Acivilian was also reportedly killed but there was no confirmation so far.View image on Twitterlink[image: View image on Twitter]link

Security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in Pinglan areaof Pulwama district of south Kashmir on the intervening night of Sunday andMonday after receiving inputs about the presence of militants in the area.As the forces were conducting searches, the militants fired upon them,triggering off a gun battle.
In view of the attack and amid the ongoing encounter, top officials aremeeting at the Home Ministry in Delhi for a high-level meeting.
Kamran is believed to have done the overall planning of the Pulwama strikein which a suicide bomber killed 40 personnel of the Central Reserve PoliceForce (CRPF). Kamran had been operating and moving in the Pulwama,Awantipora and Tral areas of south Kashmir. According to initialinvestigations, the plan for Pulwama strike was hatched in the Midoora areaof Tral.
