WASHINGTON – The United States condemns the “heinous” deadly attack on theIndian paramilitary police convoy in the Asian country’s state of Jammu andKashmir, the White House said.
On Thursday, a bomb hit the convoy, going to the Pulwama district, andkilled at least 44 officers of India’s Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)and wounding at least 44 others.
“We express our deep condolences to the victims’ families, the Indiangovernment, and the Indian people for the loss of life in this brutalattack,” the White House said in a statement.
The attack boosted the US commitment to increase its counterterrorismcooperation with India, according to the statement.

The Indian authorities have repeatedly accused Islamabad of supportingseparatists in the area. Particularly, Indian Home Affairs Minister RajnathSingh said after the attack that Jaish-e-Mohammad, a group of Kashmirifreedom fighters, was backed by Pakistan.
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry, in its turn, denied claims it had somethingto do with the attack.
