Railways locomotive worth Rs 30 crore was purchased for Rs 68 crore in previous tenure

MULTAN Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid has lamented that in past, alocomotive was purchased against Rs680 million, however, the actual priceof a locomotive was Rs300 million.

The minister stated that he was upgrading coaches as he want to see allcoaches on track.

The Railways minister said that Prime Minister Imran Khan would inaugurateThal Express and tracker system in trains on March 12. Train service wouldhave air-conditioned coaches, he said, adding the tracking system wouldhelp identifying location of the train. The tracker for trains have beengifted by a youngster, he said.The minister said that Thal Express would cover different cities includingMultan, Kotaddu, Layyah, Mianwali, Kundian, Rawalpindi etc. Similarly,Jinnah Express will be inaugurated on March 23, which would run betweenPeshawar and Karachi.The railways minister said that different facilities would be provided inthe train. He also informed the journalists that he himself bore expense onthe decoration of minister’s saloon.He said that he shifted freight train office to Karachi and hoped that itwould boost trade further. He stated that he would visit Karachi office fortwo days in a week.Pakistan Railways would add another four freight trains in next four tofive months. Similarly, Pakistan Railways would upgrade Khanewal RailwaysStation. He also claimed of making Pakistan Railways as model in one yearand it would start generating of handsome revenue.On this occasion, DS Railways Ameer Dawood Pota, DCO Nabeela Aslam andother officials were also present.
