LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) cyber crime wing hasarrested ‘most wanted police officer’ Junaid Arshad who had been accused incybercrime and two other cases.
According to FIA, the former Gilgit-Baltistan Deputy Inspector General(DIG) was an absconder in a case filed against him in 2017.
He was accused of sharing his former wife’s obscene images on social media.The other suspect involved in the case Danish has already been punishedbefore the court.
Earlier, in an application addressed to the chief justice, Arshad’s formerwife had said the DIG was an influential police officer who attempted tohumiliate her by uploading her pictures on social media.
The application stated that then-DIG Arshad had posted immoral photographsof his former wife on social media with the intent to defame her. It saidthat despite his request for bail being rejected by a trial court, thepolice had not taken him into custody for prosecution.
Three different cases have been registered against the said accused, but henever joined the legal proceedings on any forum. FIA had also placed fivelacs reward for his arrest.
