KARACHI: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General ZubairMahmood Hayat said the United States has now realised mistakes made inAfghanistan.
These remarks were expressed by the CJCSC at the conference organised byPakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) incollaboration with Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Center forEntrepreneurial Development (CED) Karachi.
The conference was attended by students of various universities of Karachias well as academia, intelligentsia, former civil and military officers.
General Zubair that every nation makes mistakes and learns from them as theUS made mistakes in Afghanistan and now realised that solution to Afghanproblem lies in political reconciliation.
In his key note address, General Zubair said that the treatment meted outin India to the minorities, especially the Muslims, clearly justifies thecreation of Pakistan in 1947 as our forefathers under the able leadershipof Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah exactly foreseen the Muslims ofsub-continent were likely to face.
He further said that two-nation theory explaining Muslims and Hindus beingtwo separate nations was first adopted by Al-Biruni in some 900 years backwho in his book said that this part of the world was inhabited by twoseparate nations Hindus and Muslims.
He said that creation of Pakistan was not only the result of tirelessefforts of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah but the valuable contributionsmade by common people.
He said that we are the custodians of some of the world’s oldestcivilizations and there is no power on earth which can undo Pakistan.
