SRINAGAR – Five days after an army man foiled an abduction by militants incentral Kashmir’s Budgam district, militants killed an Army officialoutside his home in broad daylight in Pinglina village of south Kashmir’sPulwama district.

The militants surfaced near his home and opened fire at Showkat Ahmed Naikfrom a point-blank range this afternoon. Naik died on the spot.

Massive operations were launched by security forces to track the killers.

Naik was recruited in the Territorial Army last year.

During his training, however, he left never to return. Accordingly, he wasdeclared a deserter by the army in September last year.
