ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government initiative ofAssets Recovery Unit has achieved a first major access.
Rs 530 million illegally sent abroad have been recovered through its AssetsRecovery Unit (ARU).
Well informed sources told that the recovered amount of Rs 530 million hasbeen deposited into the national exchequer while more recoveries are alsoon the cards in the near future.
“The amount has been recovered after tracing offshore properties and bankaccounts”, the sources said.
The major recovery was done from Singapore’s off-shore accounts but due tosome reasons, the details in this regard are not being made public.
It is pertinent to note here that, Prime Minister Imran Khan in his firstaddress in the National Assembly after assuming charge of his office, hadvowed to bring back the looted money.
He promised strict accountability of the corrupt people and insured peopleof Pakistan that he will work for their betterment.
Later in 2018, the government had established a task force to bring backmoney illegally shifted abroad from Pakistan.
The unit comprises officials from National Accountability Bureau andFederal Investigation Agency, he added.
