Pakistan arrests people named in Indian dossier over Pulwama Attack: Sources

ISLAMABAD – Minister of State for Interior, Shehryar Khan Afridi Tuesdayannounced that 44 under-observation members of proscribed organizations(POs) including Mufti Abdul Rauf and Hamad Azhar have been taken intopreventive detention for investigation.

Addressing a press conference along with Interior Secretary Major (Retd)Azam Suleman Khan, he said the action was taken under National Action Plan(NAP) and detained persons will be interrogated.

He said actions under NAP will continue and progress will be reviewedafter every fortnight.

The minister said neither Pakistan’s land will be used against anyone, norany country will be allowed to intervene into our affairs.

He said the actions are being taken against all proscribed outfits withoutany discrimination and added rule of law will be implemented in NewPakistan.

Replying to a question, he said Pakistan is acting against the bannedgroups in its own interest and there is no pressure on the country.

“This is Pakistan’s decision. The action will continue for two weeks. Wewill investigate the detained persons. Every single detail will be sharedwith all stakeholders,” Afridi said.

The interior secretary said in order to implement NAP, a high-level meetingwas arrangedand attended by representatives of all provincial governments.

“The action is being taken across the board and not against one or twoorganizations,” he said.

He said in case they have to seize properties and bank accounts of anyoutfit, they would not demonstrate reluctance.

Azam Suleman acknowledged that some people who have been detained are namedin Dossier handed by India to Pakistan on Pulwama attack.
