HARIPUR – Electricity generation from Tarbela dam has reached to lowestlevel after closure of 12 power generation units Tuesday due to the lowwater level in the lake.
According to the Tarbela Dam officials, the water level of Tarbela damremained 7 feet above the dead level which is 1388 feet, where only fivepower generation units are producing 325 megawatts electricity and they arealso not working with full capacity either.
The Tarbela dam officials disclosed that owing to decreased water inflow inthe dam the capacity of Tarbela power production reduced from 3478megawatts to only 325 megawatts.
Water inflow in the dam was 19600 cusecs and outflow 20000 cusecs feet, damofficials also stated that owing to the low inflow of water we havedecreased the outflow in Ghazi Brotha and Indus River.
A huge cut in power generation also increased the load shedding and watersupply for Khreef crop have also reduced which affect the crops in Punjaband Sind provinces.
