ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Customs has surpassed its target by collecting 444billion rupees in first eight months of the current financial year.
Target for collection of customs duty for first eight months was 436billion rupees which is 21 percent higher than the target for the sameperiod of the previous financial year.
In addition, an amount of 518 billion rupees Sales tax has been collectedat import stage against collection of 521 billion rupees in the previousfinancial year.
The decline in collection of Sales Tax is mainly due to decrease inquantity and value of petroleum products.
Moreover, Customs Wing has collected 152 billion rupees withholding taxwhich is 6 percent higher than previous year collection.
