ISLAMABAD – High level talks between Pakistan and United States (US) havebegun at the Foreign Office in Islamabad to discuss progress on Afghanreconciliation process, the Radio Pakistan reported.
The Pakistani delegation was led by Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua while,American delegation is being headed by US Special Representative forAfghanistan reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad.

The US Special Representative for Afghanistan reconciliation ZalmayKhalilzad also called on Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi. Both thedignitaries exchanged views on the Afghan peace process, current regionalsituation and the matters of mutual interests.
The Foreign Minister appreciated progress on intra-Afghan talks. He saidPakistan will continue to play its role in political reconciliation inAfghanistan. He said Peace in Afghanistan is in the best interest of theentire region including Pakistan.
Zalmay Khalilzad also apprised the Foreign Minister about the progress onDoha talks and details of his recent engagements regarding Afghan peaceprocess.
The US Special Representative for Afghanistan reconciliation will also haveseparate meetings with the civil and military leadership during his visitto the country.
