LAHORE: The Lahore High Court disposed of a petition filed against the proposed changing the name of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).
The single bench comprising Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti heard the petition filed by a citizen, Umar Hayat, through his counsel Khawar Mehmood Khatana.
The court observed that a statement had appeared on behalf of the government that the BISP’s name would not be changed. The petitioner could approach the court again in case any attempt was made to change the name, it added.
To which, the petitioner’s counsel sought permission for withdrawing the petition, saying that he did not want to press it.
At this, the court accepted the request and disposed of the matter.
