Federal cabinet takes important decision over IPL matches broadcast in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – Federal Information Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said thecabinet nodded banning broadcasting of India’s IPL matches in Pakistan. Hesaid India has left no opportunity to harm Pakistan’s cricket.

He said sports, culture, and other showbiz activities should not bepoliticized, but India has adopted an aggressive posture against ourplayers and artists.

He regretted that the Indian broadcaster pulled out from broadcasting PSLmatches. He said now PEMRA would ensure that IPL matches are not aired inPakistan.

The Minister said boards of Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation, Oiland Gas Development Authority, Sui Southern Gas Pipelines, and Sui NorthernGas Pipelines have been reconstituted. Shamsuddin Sheikh has been appointedChairman PMDC and Qamar Javed Sharif the chief of OGDC. Dr. Shamshad Akhtarhas been appointed the new head of SSGPL and Syed Dilawar Abbas the chiefof SNGPL. The cabinet also approved appointment of judges of variousbanking courts.

Hassan Irfan Khan has been removed from the IPO Policy Board.

He said the cabinet approved appointment of Arshad Malik as the ChiefExecutive Officer of Pakistan International Airlines.
