ISLAMABAD – The Edhi Foundation has added a light, six-seater aircraft toits air ambulance fleet.
The foundation’s managing trustee, Faisal Edhi, handed over the six-seatCessna 206 to Edhi air ambulance wing at the old Karachi airport. Faisal isalso the head of Edhi Air Ambulance Service.
The foundation decided to expand its fleet to provide the people offar-flung areas easy and fast access to health care services in case of anemergency. The aircraft will strengthen the charity’s air ambulanceservice, as it will help execute the rescue efforts in remote regions.——————————
The operation cost of the jet is Rs. 50,000 per hour while its acquisitioncost the foundation Rs. 55 million. The Edhi Air Ambulance Service alreadypossess a Piper Seneca aircraft and a Bell 206 helicopter that provideassistance during natural calamities.
“Now the fleet can provide airlift services to stranded or injured peopleand immediately shift them to the nearby hospital during a crisis,” saysFaisal Edhi.
He also expressed gratitude to the overseas Pakistanis residing in Britainfor their donations that enabled the purchase of the aircraft.
