Two Indian Army soldiers commit suicide with their service rifles in Occupied Kashmir

SRINAGAR – Another Indian soldier has committed suicide by shooting himselfdead in Srinagar on Sunday in Occupied Kashmir. He is the second Indiansoldier who committed suicide in less than twenty-four hours.

According to the Kashmir Media Service (KMS), the soldier, identified asRamphul Meena, shot himself with his service rifle inside his camp inSolina area.

He is the second Indian soldier who committed suicide in less thantwenty-four hours.

Earlier on Saturday morning, an ITBP officer identified as Sub InspectorChander Mani G Coy also ended his life in a similar manner at Town HallKunzer in Tangmarg area of Baramulla district.

As many as 125 military personnel took the extreme step to end their livesin 2016. They included 101 soldiers, 19 airmen and five sailors, withanother three cases of fratricide (to kill a fellow soldier or superior)being reported from the three Services.

This incident raised the number of such deaths amongst Indian troops andpolice personnel to 425 in occupied Kashmir since January 2007 till date,while the rising trend of fratricide (to kill a fellow soldier or superior)has also been observed among the Indian troops.
