Canada to make big investments in solar energy projects in Punjab

LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar presiding over a meetingat the CM’s Office discussed proposals and plans to set up modern solarpower plants . A Canadian company has expressed its interest in theproposed plans.

Addressing the meeting, Usman Buzdar said Punjab had huge potential tobenefit from solar energy and new technology would be used for that purpose.

He said the Canadian company should prepare off-grid solution in Dera GhaziKhan, Rajanpur, Cholistan and Thal, and a feasibility report would be madeafter survey in these areas.

He said electricity would be provided through modern solar power plants inthe area where there was no transmission line. He said the Punjabgovernment would provide all-out facilities in that regard.

The representative of the Canadian company and Chief Executive Grace SolarPakistan Nouman Khan briefed the chief minister on the modern technology ofsolar energy and performance of new panels.

Provincial Energy Minister Dr Akhtar Malik, chief secretary, additionalchief secretary home, principal secretary to CM, secretary energy, chief ofthe Special Monitoring Unit, chief executive officer Quaid-e-Azam SolarPower Company, MD Punjab Power Development Board, president Canadiancompany Projex International Faiz Ahmed Faizi and CEO Grace Solar PakistanNouman Khan attended the meeting.
