ISLAMABAD – On a resolution, tabled by the United States in the UN SecurityCouncil, seeking freezing of Masood Azhar’s bank accounts, the Pakistan FOSpokesman said such listing is a purely technical issue for which the UNSC1267 Sanctions Committee was the appropriate forum.
He regretted that the resolution was moved in UNSC at a time when thematter was under consideration by the 1267 Sanctions Committee and addedthat such efforts to circumvent the established machinery would only weakenthe 1267 regime.
He said Pakistan remainscommitted to fulfill its obligation under theUNSC’s 1267 regime.
Pakistan has said that Indian dossier failed to prove link ofJaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar with the Pulwama incident, and offeredto continue to extend cooperation on the matter of provision of ‘actionableevidence’.
At his weekly news briefing in Islamabad today, Foreign Office Spokesman DrMohammad Faisalsaid that a 10-member investigative committee, constitutedby Pakistan government, found no connecting dots that could prove link ofany Pakistani including Masood Azhar to the Pulwama tragedy.
He said only three out of six parts of India’s 91-page dossier pertained tothe Pulwama incident, while one-third names of the 90 persons mentionedwere ‘mere repetition’.
The spokesperson said Pakistan in its reply to dossier has informed Indiathat it is still ready to cooperate on provision of any actionable evidencethat would sustain or clear the threshold of Pakistani courts.
