ISLAMABAD – Once World’s top all Rounder, Mohammad Hafeez faces yet anothersetback ahead of World Cup which may keep Jim away from the Pakistan squad.

Pakistan all-rounder, Mohammad Hafeez underwent a second surgery on hisinjured thumb in England, following which he has been advised a rest of twoweeks.

The 38-year old injured his thumb in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2019where he played for Lahore Qalandars. The injury not only ruled him out ofPSL but also put a question mark on his inclusion in the World Cup squad.

The Professor was asked to rest for 6 weeks, however, the second surgerywill now keep him out of action for two more weeks. With the World Cupapproaching and no match practice for Mohammad Hafeez, there are now doubtsover his future career and inclusion in the final 15.

Pakistan is experimenting with the youngsters in the ongoing series againstAustralia and the top performers are expected to slot into the 15-membersquad for the mega event. Hafeez’s inclusion is unlikely considering hisfitness woes, however, Pakistan could use his experience at the biggestcricketing event in the world.

With fitness test for World Cup selection scheduled on April 14, it remainsto be seen whether Hafeez declares himself fit and available for selectionbefore that time.
