LONDON – British Prime Minister Theresa May has said she will step down ifher Brexit deal is given a go-ahead by the parliament in what appears to be‘back me then sack me ‘arrangement.
In a meeting with lawmakers from her Conservative party on Wednesday, thepremier opined she would step down provided the twice-defeated divorce dealshe negotiated with the European Union passes at a third vote.
“I know some people are worried that if you vote for the withdrawalagreement, I will take that as a mandate to rush on into phase two withoutthe debate we need to have. I won’t; I hear what you are saying,” May said,according to a statement released by her office.
