NEW DELHI – A study has shown that half of the world’s known Internetshutdowns have happened in India, mostly in occupied Kashmir.
The study conducted by California-based Stanford University.
On the other hand, In occupied Kashmir, Indian police have arrested over adozen youth including Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front leaders andactivists from different areas of the territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in the wake of India banning the Jammuand Kashmir Liberation Front on Friday, police arrested around half a dozenleaders including Bashir Ahmad Boya and Abdur Rasheed Mugloo fromBaramulla, Ganderbal and southern districts during nocturnal raids. Thetroops arrested, at least, seven youth during house raids at Arhama inShopian district.
Indian police also arrested two Kashmiri youth on return from Pakistan whohad gone to Pakistan on legal documents.
Meanwhile, clashes broke out between Indian forces’ personnel and the localyouth after Indian troops cordoned off Arwani area in south Kashmir’sIslamabad district.
The participants of a meeting of the Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Movement inJammu urged the international community to come forward in a big way torescue the people of Jammu and Kashmir from growing atrocities of Indianforces in Kashmir.
