ISLAMABAD – Pakistanis get a good news from South Korea over employmentissue.
South Korea has accepted 15,750 job applications of Pakistani candidatesseeking employment in the manufacturing sector, under the Employment PermitSystem (EPS) agreement signed by the two countries in 2008.
According to the official sources in Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC),around 109,317 citizens had applied online among which 15,750 Pakistaniswere selected via balloting process.
“This is the highest number of the shortlisted candidates since 2008 andcredit goes to Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanisand South Korean Ambassador,” said the sources.
The selected candidates are required to submit their credentials till March29. They will also have to undergo a written test conducted by the SouthKorean embassy for the final selection of the candidates.——————————
Before the final test, the aspirants will learn the Korean language duringa training course organized by the corporation. Moreover, if 1,000candidates manage to pass the Korean language test, the quota will increaseby 20 percent under the EPS agreement.
The sources further told that the government has no role in the selectionprocess and the South Korean authorities ensure transparency in therecruitment.
The Labour Ministry of South Korea has determined the quota for 16countries, under the EPS, according to the workers’ performance. TheOverseas Employment Corporation (OEC) has also sent 31 Pakistani workers toSouth Korea for employment. These candidates were shortlisted earlier in2018.
Notably, the Ministry of Employment and Labour South Korea has raisedPakistan’s labor quota from 900 to 1,000 per year. This quota has beenraised for the second time in two years, as it was increased to 900 from700 per year in 2018.
Moreover, over 8,000 workers have gone to South Korea since 2008 under theEPS.
