ISLAMABAD – Supreme Court gives former President Pervaiz Musharraf threeoptions for recording his statement.
The treason trial against former president General (retd) Pervez Musharrafwill continue, come what may, judges of the Supreme Court said on Monday.
A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, expressedannoyance at the former president’s continued absence from court andrejected his lawyer’s appeal to have the trial postponed.
Justice Khosa said sometimes Musharraf goes to the hospital and sometimesto his house. After the last hearing, we were sure that he would beadmitted to the hospital, he said, adding that it seems his car takes wrongturns while coming to court.
The court has given Musharraf three options to record his statement – thefirst is that he presents himself at the next hearing, the second that herecord his statement via video link and the third is that his lawyerpresents it on his behalf.
However, General (retd) Musharraf’s lawyer said he is not one to acceptdefeat. He wants to come back but his heart freezes, he informed the court.
