ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday announced theappointment of three-person women’s selection committee replacing formermen’s internationals Jalaluddin and Akhtar Sarfraz.
The selection panel is led by Urooj Mumtaz, who represented Pakistan in oneTest match, 38 one-day internationals and 9 T20 internationals.
Urooj Mumtaz is joined by Asmavia Iqbal and Marina Iqbal and their firstassessment will be to select a squad for the ICC’s Women Championshipupcoming against South Africa in May.
On the naming of the new all-female panel, PCB managing director Wasim Khansaid:
Women’s cricket will be an important priority moving forward and this hasbeen reflected in the selection of such a relevant and dynamic committee.Their appointments will go a long way towards accelerating the progress ofour senior women’s team.
Attracting women with the relevant skill sets and a passion for the women’sgame was critical when forming this new Committee. Offering merit-basedopportunities to exceptionally talented women who can help drive andinfluence the game spells a new and exciting era at the PCB.
