ISLAMABAD – The International Cricket Council has confirmed that the groupstage match between arch-rivals India and Pakistan will take placeaccording to the schedule.
The Chief Executive Officer of ICC David Richardson said that according tothe rules Pakistan will get the points if India will refuse to play withthe green shirts in the World Cup.
He said that all teams have signed a members’ participation agreement,which requires them to participate in all the matches of the tournament andany unjustified non-compliance with that provision, the playing conditionswill kick in and the points will be awarded accordingly.
The ICC response came after former Indian cricketers demanded the BCCI toinfluence the ICC to ban Pakistan from the World Cup following the attackin Pulwama.
Committee of Administrators wrote a letter to ICC on the instructions ofIndian Supreme Court in which they demanded the World’s cricket governingbody to boycott Pakistan.
