*KARACHI: The first 330-megawatt power plant based on Thar coal wasconnected to the national grid after it started generating power from theworld’s seventh largest coal reserves.*
This was announced by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on his officialTwitter account.

Work on coal mining in Thar block II, and power plant near the site of coalmining started in 2016 and was earlier scheduled to be completed by June2019, but due to fast pace of the work, the project is said to havecompleted well ahead of the allotted time.
