Saudi Arabia expressed keen interest in Gwadar, CPEC

ISLAMABAD – Saudi Arabia has expressed its keen interest in exploring moreavenues for investment in Gwadar under CPEC, as there is a huge potentialfor trade and economic activities.

This was deliberated during a meeting of the Saudi Shura Council ChairmanDr Abdullah Bin Muhammad Bin Ibrahim Al-Shaikh with Senate ChairmanMuhammad Sadiq Sanjrani at a reception hosted in honour of the Saudi ShuraCouncil.

The Senate chairman observed that mutual trust and confidence had beenwitnessed in the decades-long friendship between the two sides. Referringto the investment opportunities in Pakistan, he observed that anenvironment conducive to multi-sector investment existed in Pakistan, andSaudi investors would benefit from the investment opportunities.

Sanjrani said he considered the visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad binSalman as highly important, as it would help in laying the foundation for anew era of cooperation.

He said that Saudi investment had helped in rejuvenating the confidence ofinternational community in Pakistan.

He said that during the visit of the crown prince, MoUs envisaging Saudiinvestment worth $20 billion were signed, which proved that Saudi Arabiaconsidered Pakistan an important country. He further said that the recenthigh level reciprocal visits would usher into a new era of economiccooperation.

He called for developing an institutional mechanism and legal framework forbetter institutional collaboration. Sanjrani also praised vision 2030unveiled by Saudi Arabia and hoped that the initiative would help reduceunemployment and develop linkages with international markets, besidesoffering a win-win situation for all.
