PM Imran Khan to make an example of corrupt leaders who plundered the country

QUETTA: Prime Minister Imran Khan Sunday said that the political leaderswho had plundered the country during the last decade and burdened thecountry with excessive debts would be taken to task and mads an example.

“How so long it takes, we will get them punished who have done this to thecountry, just to make them a deterrent for those contesting election infuture,” the prime minister remarked addressing the ground breakingceremony of Naya Pakistan Housing Program here.

Held at the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineeringand Management Sciences, the event was attended by Chief Minister ofBalochistan Jam Kamal Khan, Governor Amanullah Yasinzai, Federal Ministerfor Housing Tariq Bashir Cheema, federal and provincial cabinet members andsenior government officials, besides a huge number of students.

He said Sharif Family, and Asif Zardari wanted to remove the government forfearing the jail as new facts (concernign their corruption) were revealingwith every passing day. He said Maulana Fazlur Rehman wanted to wind up thewhole system after he faced defeat in election.

He said the project of five million houses was to fulfill the dream ofthose who could not afford to build their own house particularly thesalaried and other low-income groups. He said despite being a basic need,owning a house had become even more difficult with the skyrocketing realestate prices.

He said unfortunately, in the existing banking system, the loan facilitieswere limited to the elite class. However, the government was makinglegislation to extend it to low income group. Currently, only 0.2 percentpeople in Pakistan availed housing finance against 80-90 percent in Europe,30pc in Malaysia and 10pc in India.

He told the gathering that foreign companies were interested to invest inthe housing project that would also boost another 40 linked industriesbesides creating job opportunities.

The prime minister who earlier unveiled the plaques for construction of110,000 houses in Quetta and Gwadar including 54,000 units for fishermen,said instead of awaiting the government jobs, the youngsters should formtheir own constructions firms.

He directed the Balochistan chief minister to design a master plan ofQuetta and allow the vertical construction to discourage the spread of thecity.

The prime minister urged the youth to study the principles of Madina statewhich conquered two super powers of that time despite being far smaller insize and resources.
