*KARACHI: Former finance minister Asad Umar on Friday said he wasn’tdistressed after relinquishing charge as the finance minister.*
Speaking to media after landing in Karachi, Umar said he would keepvisiting Islamabad whenever needed, however, “most of my time will now bespent in Karachi,” said Umar who resigned as finance minister a day ago.
Upon arriving in the city, he received a warm welcome from PakistanTehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers at the airport. In his brief chat, heunderlined that he would visit Islamabad to attend assembly sessions.
“I am relaxed and will keep serving the party,” he added.
PTI MNA Asad Umar had announced Thursday that he was stepping down from hispost as finance minister.
In a statement on Twitter, Asad Umar broke the news by saying, “As part ofa cabinet reshuffle PM desired that I take the energy minister portfolioinstead of finance.”
“However, I have obtained his consent to not take any cabinet position. Istrongly believe PM Imran Khan is the best hope for Pakistan and inshallahwill make a naya pakistan,” the former minister added.
Last month, Prime Minister Imran Khan had decided to review theperformances of all federal ministries and cabinet divisions of thegovernments on quarterly basis, for which a notice was also sent to allfederal secretaries from the Prime Minister’s Office.
