In an aim to boost its tourism industry, the South Asian country is rollingout free visas on arrival for citizens of 36 countries.
The Sri Lankan government will offer the promotion starting May 1 totravellers from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the EuropeanUnion, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and SouthKorea, The Independentlink reported.
Sri Lanka’s minister of tourism development, John Amaratunga, had saidearlier that Sri Lanka hopes to extend the free visa scheme to Chinesetourists and citizens of SAARC (South Asian Association for RegionalCooperation) countries — Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives,Nepal, and Pakistan.
