BJP awards ticket to terrorist Sadhvi Pragya Singh, main culprit in Malegaon bomb blasts

NEW DELHI – Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, who was the main accused in theMalegaon blasts that killed and injured over 100 people was chosen as theBJP party’s candidate against Congress leader Digvijaya Singh in Bhopal.

“I have formally joined BJP, I will contest elections and will win also,”she said in Bhopal, reported news agency ANI.

Thakur is the third of five children—the family has four sisters and abrother–and joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh-affiliated AkhilBharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in the early nineties.

Thakur moved to Madhya Pradesh as her father was transferred from Jalaundistrict in Uttar Pradesh to Lahar in Bhind district of the central statein the seventies as an agriculture department employee.

Her father again shifted to Surat around 2000 when Pragya was setting outfor a post-graduation in history.
