ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Friday launched the guidelines for theimplementation of the UNSC 1267 sanctions at the Ministry of ForeignAffairs after consultation with stakeholders and in compliance withInternational standards.
A large number of representatives of the federal and provincial governmentsincluding those of financial institutions, law enforcement and otherimplementing agencies attended the event, said a news statement issued byforeign office here.
On the occasion, Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua underscored that Pakistanhad managed to turn the tide in the fight against terrorism for which therewere no parallels.
She said it was important to further consolidate these gains through fullimplementation of National Action Plan (NAP).
She added that Pakistan also had to be mindful of fulfilling itsinternational legal obligations including the implementation of the UnitedNations Security Council Sanctions which have been adopted under ChapterVII of the UN Charter.
The Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua hoped that the guidelines would assistall stakeholders in better discharging their responsibilities for theeffective implementation of the United Nations Sanctions.
The guidelines have been prepared by the National Committee for overseeingimplementation of Sanctions against individuals and entities designated bythe UN Security Council 1267 Al Qaida/Da’esh Sanctions regime and SecurityCouncil 1988 (Taliban Sanctions regime).
