Pakistan to merge three academies for media university, seek Chinese help

ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting ChaudhryFawad Hussain Tuesday invited Chinese technological giant ZTE Corporationto give technical assistance in establishment of Media University andinvite them to set up their manufacturing units in Pakistan.

He was talking to Senior Vice President of ZTE and head of its AsiaBusiness Zhonghua Mei, called on him here.

The company’s chief executive officer in Pakistan Mao Zhixia and otherofficials were also present during the meeting.Chaudhry Fawad said a Media University was being set up in whichexisting academies of Pakistan Television, Pakistan BroadcastingCorporation and Information Service would be merged and students would begiven state-of-the-art training in media, performing arts as well astechnology.He said he may visit China soon to seek professional cooperation for theMedia University which was a flagship project of Ministry of Informationand Broadcasting.

The minister said the government was setting up special economic zones inthecountry and invited ZTE to benefit from the pro-business policies of thepresent government.

ZTE is a leading technology company in China which has 14 research anddevelopment centers. It specializes in 5-G, artificial intelligence and bigdata technologies in addition to the manufacturing of related equipments.
